Abstract
Ce texte de Bernard Huet (1932-2001) a été publié en italien et en anglais en 1984 dans un ouvrage présentant des projets récents de l’architecte milanais Aldo Rossi (1931-1997). L’article demeure très peu connu, il n’a jamais été édité en français qui est la langue d’origine dans laquelle il a été rédigé. La découverte du tapuscrit original de Bernard Huet au Centre d’archives d’architecture du XXe siècle de la Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine à Paris nous a encouragé à le diffuser. L’auteur présente de manière très synthétique l’œuvre théorique d’Aldo Rossi, dans laquelle il définit trois moments bornés chronologiquement par des écrits majeurs de l’architecte de la fin des années 1950 au milieu des années 1980. Nous pouvons ainsi redécouvrir les idées de Rossi à travers l’« Architecture de la Ville », l’« Architecture de la Raison », et l’« Architecture de la Mémoire ». Au-delà de cette synthèse, l’article s’appuie sur des articles fondamentaux de Rossi, pour lesquels nous avons pris soin de compléter les notes de bas de pages. Bernard Huet aide à comprendre Aldo Rossi, ses textes, leurs principes, et nous invite à penser l’« exaltation de la raison ».
