Abstract
A través de la obra de Fernando de Herrera y de Juan de Arguijo y del trabajo del pintor Francisco Pacheco en la famosa Casa de Pilatos de los Duques de Alcalá, este artículo estudia la presencia y el papel de figuras mitológicas como Ícaro, Faetón y Ganimedes en la poesía y la pintura sevillana del Siglo de Oro. Más allá de una lectura puramente moralizadora de la temática de la osadía, este ensayo interpreta la metáfora del vuelo como una expresión de las ambiciones literarias de los hombres de letras en la Sevilla de los siglos XVI y XVII.
