Les competences de referencement documentaire font appel a des savoirs techniques, comme l’utilisation de logiciels de gestion de donnees bibliographiques; des savoir-faire, comme la resolution de problemes; et des savoir-etre, comme le sentiment d’autoefficacite. La presente etude explore le lien entre ces savoirs et le nombre d’annees universitaires completees. Les resultats a un questionnaire provenant de 810 etudiants quebecois demontrent que ceux qui commencent leurs etudes universitaires sont moins efficaces et moins confiants face a leurs competences de referencement documentaire et ont moins recours aux logiciels de gestion de donnees bibliographiques que ceux qui ont etudie plus longtemps. Tous les etudiants ont des savoir-faire pour resoudre leurs problemes de referencement documentaire.
