Une Introduction dense, intitule Aprs Arthur? et due Christine , vise justifier la fourchette chronologique retenue (1270-1530, dates qui s'expliquent en amont par l'essoufflement de la production arthurienne, et en aval par l'affirmation d'un nouveau roman aprs le Tristan de Pierre Sala), et surtout faire le point sur quelques interrogations pralables aux contributions runies dans ce volume, issu d'un sminaire qui s'est tenu l'Universit Rennes 2 entre 2013 et 2016, dans le cadre du projet LATE. Ces questions portent sur la notion de genre et de matire arthurienne, sur la lgitimit d'une recherche des attestations arthuriennes en dehors du roman, sur les actualisations diverses que la matire arthurienne a subies au cours des sicles.
