Abstract
La première pièce créée par le Théâtre Ondinnok, Le porteur des peines du monde, ressemble à un rite de passage ou à une quête initiatique ayant pour but de purifier l'Amérindien de son lourd passé. L'objectif de ce travail sera d'analyser Le Porteur des peines du monde en s'appuyant sur l'écocritique, une méthodologie de lecture des textes littéraires apparue aux États-Unis dans les années 1970. L'écocritique, qui s'intéresse principalement aux conséquences de l'action humaine sur la nature, n'est pas encore institutionnalisée au Québec, ni dans le champ littéraire, ni dans les études universitaires, mais, un intérêt indéniable pour ce champ d'études commence à se manifester.
