Abstract
Les liaisons marchandes et culturelles entre l’Europe et l’Extrême-Orient ont existé depuis l’Antiquité romaine et han, au cœur du continent eurasiatique le long de routes qu’on a appelé à la fin du XIXe siècle « Route de la soie ». L’expansion de l’empire russe puis de l’URSS, peuplant la Sibérie, a créé une première forme de couloir ou corridor le long des voies ferrées transcontinentales du Transsibérien. En Asie orientale, le Japon après la Seconde Guerre mondiale a impulsé la création d’un corridor maritime jusqu’aux détroits de Malacca, devenu un axe de développement et de croissance économique majeur. La forte croissance économique chinoise depuis les années 1980 a rencontré celle des Nouveaux Pays Industriels d’Asie du Sud-Est impulsée par le Japon, aboutissant à l’apparition de corridors dans la Région du Grand Mékong et à leur conceptualisation en Asie. Le projet des « nouvelles Routes de la soie », continentales et maritime, est une systématisation et une extension par la Chine, à une échelle continentale eurasiatique puis mondiale, de ces phénomènes.
