Abstract
Descartes ne mentionne que très rarement le nom d’Aristote. Il critique des options philosophiques aristotéliciennes et des concepts qui lui sont parvenues par la scolastique (« l’École »), la plupart du temps sans le nommer. Pourtant, à quelques moments clés, il mentionne le nom d’Aristote et fait travailler ce nom avec ceux de Platon et de Socrate. Quels enjeux rhétoriques et philosophiques ces mentions revêtent-elles ? Quelle construction de l’histoire de la philosophie cela produit-il ? Cette article présente et explore ces enjeux et le récit des origines de la philosophie selon Descartes.
