Abstract
O conceito de nepantla refere-se ao lugar da reconstrução de nossa compreensão sobre nós mesmos/as, os/as outros/as e o mundo. Lugar, assim, da possibilidade de se gestar e trazer à luz um ordenamento sociotécnico diferente daquele atualmente hegemônico, que produz desempoderamento dos grupos populares, injustiça social e degradação ambiental. Nas últimas décadas, desenvolveram-se distintas práticas de engenharia que podem ser aplicadas nesse lugar, ou, mesmo, podem emulá-lo. Contudo, a reflexão sobre a formação do/a profissional capaz de aplicar essas práticas permanece pouco desenvolvida. Neste trabalho, após fundamentar a urgência de nepantla e apresentar o que é esse lugar fronteiriço, ilustraremos abordagens da engenharia que conseguem ocupá-lo e emulá-lo, esboçando, então, atividades pedagógicas que, em acréscimo àquelas desenvolvidas no Brasil para a formação do/a engenheiro/a educador(a), são capazes de formar esse/a engenheiro/a nepantlero.
