O presente texto e a traducao do original em ingles, “ Social Work’s horrible histories: collusion and resistance ”. Trata-se do Capitulo Quatro do livro “ Global Social Work in a political context: radical perspectives ”, publicado em 2018, pela Editora Policy Press, Universidade de Bristol. A partir de documentacao historica pesquisada em varios paises, o texto relata historias e praticas de assistentes sociais no seculo XX. durante regimes ditatoriais e/ou colonialistas existentes na Alemanha, Espanha, Grecia, Gra-Bretanha, Canada, Australia, Africa do Sul, pautadas por praticas autoritarias e com fortes influencias do eugenismo.
