En 2018, la Ville du Thor a confié à la Direction du Patrimoine de L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue un volet de recherches sur son enceinte urbaine. L’intervention a consisté en un repérage des élévations préservées et à la réalisation d’une couverture photogrammétrique des sections les plus représentatives. La naissance du bourg médiéval découle probablement d’un ancien vicus établi en bordure de la Sorgue.
