Abstract
Les Indes galantes signalent une évolution importante de la scène française qui dépasse de simples considérations esthétiques. Reproduisant un exotisme de convention, Rameau et Fuzelier introduisent de nouveaux accords et des audaces textuelles qui font de leur opéra-ballet un spectacle de forme hybride, dégagé de toute règle rigoureuse, à la limite, anti conformiste. Ainsi l’évocation des rivages lointains suggérés par le titre amène à la creation de nouvelles formes de la représentation de l’autre exotique.
