Abstract
Ce contenu est une compilation d'articles de l'encyclopedie libre Wikipedia. La bataille d'Arras est une offensive britannique, canadienne,australienne, neo-zelandaise et terre-neuvienne contre les troupes allemandes qui eut lieu a Arras en France pendant la Premiere Guerre mondiale. Pendant une grande partie de la guerre, les armees ennemies sur le front occidental furent dans une impasse, avec une ligne continue de tranchees s'etendant de la cote belge a la frontiere suisse1. L'objectif essentie des Allies a partir de debut 1915 fut de percer les defenses allemandes en campagne et d'engager l'armee allemande numeriquement inferieure dans une guerre de mouvement. L'offensive d'Arras fut concue pour parvenir a ce resultat.
