Abstract
Aufgrund des starken Anstieges der Zahlen von Asylsuchenden und Geflüchteten stehen sowohl Deutschland als auch Kanada vor neuen dringlichen gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen. Bildungsteilhabe ist ein zentraler Faktor und Indikator für gelingende Integration. Wie kann die Teilhabe junger Flüchtlinge am Bildungssystem ermöglicht werden? In diesem Buch werden die multikulturellen urbanen Zentren München und Toronto in den Blick genommen. Innerhalb einer explorativen empirischen Studie werden Bildungserfahrungen junger Flüchtlinge sowie Bildungsstrukturen für die Bevölkerungsgruppe in diesen zwei Städten untersucht. Die Arbeit greift hierbei auf eine ausführliche theoretische Einbettung in der Bildungs- und Flüchtlingsforschung zurück. Kontextuelle Rahmenbedingungen in den Gesellschafts-, Asyl- und Bildungssystemen in Kanada und Deutschland werden detailliert dargestellt. Diese Studie bietet wichtige theoretische Erkenntnisse zu strukturellen und biographischen Faktoren der Bildungsteilhabe junger Geflüchteter und gibt zudem Hinweise auf praktische Handlungsstrategien.
