Cet ouvrage a pour double objectif de dresser un bilan de l’état de la recherche sur la correspondance de Zola, et d’ouvrir de nouvelles perspectives de lecture et d’interprétation, à un moment où l’Édition franco-canadienne de la correspondance est achevée, et où les lettres écrites par Zola à Jeanne Rozerot et à Alexandrine Zola sont publiées.
