Abstract
This chapter presents a case study of the implications of amenity migration on housing supply and availability in the mountain resort community of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Specifically, it (i) describes trends in the growth and magnitude of amenity migration to Whistler; (ii) summarizes the emerging range of economic and social impacts of amenity migrants on Whistler, especially its effects on the supply of employee-oriented affordable housing; (iii) describes the strategies that Whistler organizations are using to address current affordable housing challenges; and (iv) recommends future strategies for addressing these issues.
