Abstract
Le présent article traite des caractéristiques psychologiques, sociales et criminologiques d’auteurs de violence conjugale qui consultent dans un organisme spécialisé et, plus spécifiquement, sur l’abandon thérapeutique. Nos résultats mettent en évidence des caractéristiques qui diffèrent chez les hommes ayant complété leur suivi ( N = 36) et ceux l’ayant abandonné ( N = 40). Les hommes ayant abandonné leur suivi sont significativement plus jeunes que ceux l’ayant complété et ils sont plus nombreux à avoir commis des infractions contre les biens, à exercer de la violence sexuelle envers leur conjointe, à consommer des drogues et à avoir vécu une intervention de la Direction de la protection de la jeunesse (DPJ). De plus, un nombre plus élevé d’hommes présentant de l’alexithymie et de l’impulsivité ont abandonné leur suivi. L’impact clinique de ces résultats et des pistes de recherche sont proposés dans cet article.
