Estado e internacionalización empresarial: el caso de la firma canadiense Bombardier

Abstract
El objetivo es contribuir a la discusión sobre el papel del estado y las trayectorias nacionales en las estrategias de expansión empresarial de los últimos 50 años. Para ello, se analiza la historia de la firma canadiense Bombardier, líder mundial en la fabricación de equipo ferroviario y aeronáutico. Se eligió un país desarrollado y una firma de renombre para mostrar que el discurso globalizador que desde la década de 1970 propone apertura y “libre mercado” fue adoptado al exterior de estas naciones. Al interior de países como Canadá las políticas proteccionistas, los subsidios a corporaciones y la promoción de exportaciones con recursos de los contribuyentes fueron la base para la expansión de empresas como Bombardier. Esta trayectoria se combinó con el proceso de privatización de empresas de equipos de transporte en países como México, en los años ochenta y noventa, dando a Bombardier la posibilidad de adquirir capacidades y tecnología que consolidaron su red global de producción.
