Montréal, l'avenir du passé Jason Gilliland et Sherry OlsonHistoriens, généalogistes, géographes et démographes tentent de nombreuses expériences avec les SIG, sans trop s'attarder jusqu'ici à l'échelle, à la précision optimale ou au développement de ces systèmes.Un réseau de recherche centré sur le patrimoine montréalais entend bien renverser la vapeur avec le projet de partage de géobases historiques Montréal, l'avenir du passé (MAP), du réseau GEOIDE.La géomatique au service de la recherche en histoire!Une cohorte de professeurs universitaires et d'étudiants au doctorat, en collaboration avec des partenaires provenant de services d'urbanisme, de musées, de bibliothèques et de centres de recherche, s'appliquent à mettre au point un système d'information géographique assez précis pour repérer des bâtiments, assez facile pour être utilisé par des néophytes et assez riche pour stimuler les experts.
