Understanding the tectonic evolution of the West Orphan Basin, offshore Canada, and the conjugate Rockall Basin, offshore Ireland, using a seismic megatransect
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The Orphan Basin, offshore Newfoundland, Canada, is approximately conjugate to the rifted margin basins on the Irish Atlantic margin. At the onset of seafloor spreading, plate reconstructions, based solely on oceanic magnetic anomalies, show the Rockall Basin, west of Ireland, forming a continuous Mesozoic basin with the West Orphan Basin. Here, the nature of this potentially continuous basin is examined through the development of a Newfoundland-Ireland conjugate basins model. \n2D and 3D reconstructions of the West Orphan and Rockall basins yielded the thickness of the post-rift and syn-rift sedimentary packages, as well as the pre-rift crust. A discrepancy inspired additional analysis of the East Orphan Basin to aid in the reconstruction of the continuous Mesozoic basins. Based on the results of the reconstruction of the East Orphan Basin, it is possible that the Rockall Basin was originally conjugate to, and continuous with, the East Orphan Basin.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
