Quels sont les rôles du conjoint de dirigeant d’entreprise familiale ? Une étude de 3 ans s’est penchée sur la question et a analysé l’auto-perception de 42 conjoints et conjointes de dirigeants de 1 re à 12 e génération, actifs ou non dans l’entreprise. Elle l’a ensuite confrontée aux regards de 168 dirigeants d’entreprises familiales et de 169 « Next Gen » 1 . Mettant en lumière une myriade de rôles souvent invisibles ou méconnus, l’étude met aussi en avant la richesse des compétences, savoir-être et tempéraments des conjoints. Trois rôles principaux émergent : vis-à-vis du dirigeant, le soutien émotionnel à toute épreuve ; vis-à-vis de la famille, la facilitation de la communication ; et vis-à-vis de la Next Gen, la transmission de l’esprit d’entreprendre. Au carrefour des interactions et des enjeux individuels, familiaux et entrepreneuriaux, le conjoint est donc une pièce indispensable de la mécanique de l’entreprise familiale, et ce contrairement à sa propre perception. Telle la courroie de transmission qui perpétue le mouvement, le conjoint de dirigeant est un véritable passeur de modèle qui perpétue le mouvement entrepreneurial et familial.
