Au cours de la dernière année, plusieurs études et rapports scientifiques sont venus préciser l’impact des changements climatiques enregistrés à ce jour au Canada et ailleurs dans le monde. On y retrouve également les meilleures évaluations concernant les impacts à venir du réchauffement climatique, selon différents scénarios d’émissions mondiales de gaz à effet de serre au cours du prochain siècle. En bref, alors que se raffinent les outils tels que les modèles climatiques et notre compréhension des enjeux, il est clair que nous sommes déjà dans une ère de conséquences liées aux choix que l’humanité a privilégiés au cours des deux derniers siècles. L’amélioration rapide de nos connaissances scientifiques devrait nous permettre d’augmenter notre niveau de préparation tout en intervenant sur les causes mêmes du problème.
