Abstract
Le présent article se propose de questionner l’influence du complexe des origines sur l’historiographie africaine élaborée par les afrocentristes. L’objectif étant de répondre à la question de savoir si la conscience historique se résume à celle de la recherche des origines au grand dam de l’objectivité scientifique. En effet, une certaine littérature historienne afrocentriste témoigne d’une obsession, pour ses promoteurs, de réduire toute l’Histoire ainsi que les valeurs de l’humanité à un passé glorieux de l’Afrique. Au terme de cette étude menée dans une approche empirico descriptive, il appert que la posture afrocentriste trahit la vocation revancharde et passionnée d’une historiographie africaine qui ignore les visées universalisantes de la science. Étant donné la complexité qui entoure toute entreprise de clarification des origines d’un fait, l’historiographie africaine ne saurait se limiter à la recherche effrénée, aux allures du mythe de Sisyphe, de la preuve indéniable que l’origine de l’humanité se trouve en Afrique, autant le contexte mondial de construction des savoirs exige une prise en compte d’une approche orientée vers un solide mariage entre théorie et pratique.
