Abstract
Cet article tiré d’une enquête menée à l’issue des élections municipales de 2001 interroge les effets du genre dans le militantisme municipal des nouvelles élues. Il met au jour l’importance du genre dans la façon dont les élus articulent les différentes temporalités – professionnelle, familiale, politique. Il examine ainsi l’idée selon laquelle la « disponibilité » est élément fondamental dans le cumul de ressources politiques pour les femmes qui cumulent ces différentes activités. Cependant, le genre n’est pas la seule variable qui entre en jeu pour expliquer la façon dont les élues se situent dans l’arène politique municipale : le fait d’être novice ou expérimentée joue un rôle tout aussi déterminant.
