Abstract
Les changements majeurs dans la politique étrangère soviétique à la fin des années 1980, l’ouverture du mur de Berlin et ultimement la dissolution de l’URSS forcent une réévaluation du statut d’adversaire qu’elle avait acquis aux États-Unis durant la guerre froide. Des débats se profilent en effet dans des revues publiées par des think tanks spécialisés en politique étrangère quant à la compréhension de ces événements et à la façon d’y réagir. On assiste alors à une déconstruction de l’image de l’ennemi et, malgré certaines propositions de collaboration, à une marginalisation de la nouvelle Russie dans l’analyse du jeu international. Ces discours allaient laisser leurs marques sur la façon de réfléchir la politique étrangère aux États-Unis.
