Abstract
La búsqueda de la verdad tuvo un cambio radical en la Europa del siglo xvi.La palabra de Dios, que había bastado para responder las interrogantes de la filosofía, perdió su potencia.La naturaleza del mundo, del hombre, de las enfermedades, de los fenómenos naturales, entre otros, esperaban ser descubiertas a través de la razón.Occidente comenzó a buscar respuestas en el mundo de la materia, convencido de que cada hallazgo lo acercaría a la posesión de su destino y el del resto de la humanidad.El cambio a un paradigma racionalista, mediante la sistematización del conocimiento, contribuyó a una revolución científica que todavía altera el destino del mundo.Durante la revolución científica del siglo xvi se gestó un modelo de racionalidad que desde entonces dominó las ciencias naturales, y que en el siglo xix se extendió a las ciencias sociales.La búsqueda científica de la verdad le ha permitido al ser humano someter a la naturaleza, transformarla en recursos, apoderarse de fuerzas naturales que antes fueron divinas.El costo: quedar desarraigado de ella.
