The rise in retail price inflation to six years high of 7.35% in December 2019, the rise in the rate of unemployment to three years high of 8.5% and fall in the GDP growth rate to 4.8% in the first quarter of 2020 (IMF) the lowest over six years, has led to a fear of stagflation.The Indian economy has faced continuous slow growth since 2018. Economic growth for the current year was expected to be 5%. According to some economists, this slow down is due to lack of sufficient demand for goods and services.
