Abstract The Center for Global Environmental Research (CGER) was established to contribute to the solution of pressing environmental problems and has three major activities: integration of environmental research through enhanced communication and international cooperation; support to global environmental research; and long‐term and continuous monitoring relevant to global environmental issues.
