Correlation analysis between subjective well-being and social support of chronic hepatitis B patients

Abstract
Objective To explore the level of subjective well-being (SWB) and social support (SS), as well as their relationship in chronic hepatitis B patients. Methods One hundred and twenty-three inpatients were selected by using convenience sampling method. Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness (MUNSH)and Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) were used. Results SWB level of chronic hepatitis B patients was moderate (21.92±2.65) and SS level was lower than normal people. SS level showed a positive correlation with SWB in chronic hepatitis B patients ( r = 0.408, P = 0.000). Conclusions Chronic hepatitis B patients have lower level of SWB. Medical workers should take all possible measures to increase their social support so as to improve their SWB. Key words: Hepatitis B; Chronic; Subjective well-being; Social support; Correlation
