Abstract
Abstract : The Major Events Coordinated Security Solutions (MECSS) project was put in place to support the application of science and technology to reduce the security risk related to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics as well as the G8/G20 Summits. At the direction of the Assistant Deputy Minister Science and Technology, the MECSS project was to be managed in the same manner as Technology Demonstration Projects using project management best practices. This report outlines the project management elements that were used to manage the MECSS project and specifically outlines the value of applying the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge to a science and technology project focusing on support to a domestic security event.
