Dans cet article, nous proposons d’expliquer comment le fonctionnement affectif des plateformes numériques se répercute sur le rapport des adolescents aux contenus web du fait des émotions qu’ils peuvent déclencher et de leurs dispositions individuelles à les recevoir. Nous explorons l’écart entre, d’une part, les affects autorisés et calculés par les plateformes et, d’autre part, les émotions ressenties par les individus face aux contenus informationnels qui leur parviennent à travers ces espaces. Nous nous appuyons sur un triple cadre théorique : l’hypothèse du « digital labour », entendu comme une mise au travail des internautes; le « web affectif », qui stimule ce travail par la captation de l’attention et la récupération des affects; et la « surveillance panoptique », qui accroît la tension émotionnelle par la mise en visibilité des images. Le travail émotionnel des adolescents apparaît en fin de compte polysémique et difficile à interpréter sans le recours à une grille d’analyse plurielle et l’écoute attentive des expériences individuelles.
