Int J Nurs Stud 2019;99:103385. Many first-time mothers experience low parental self-efficacy as they transition to motherhood. Self-doubt can disrupt personal well-being and heighten feelings of inadequacy, unpreparedness and isolation. Low maternal confidence is a significant risk factor for postpartum depression (PPD).
