Abstract
Cet article interroge le fréquent recours aux notions d’immersion et d’empathie dans les discours tenus sur le journalisme immersif entre 2014 et 2019. L’euphorie exprimée, relative aux capacités de la réalité virtuelle à retranscrire la véracité des faits, peut être interprétée à plusieurs niveaux. D’un point de vue symbolique, elle connote une utopie des nouvelles technologies. Elle illustre par ailleurs le paradigme de la diffusion sociotechnique propre aux innovations. Enfin, elle reformule une ambivalence dialectique constitutive de l’ethos journalistique, où l’émotion est à la fois source de motivation et matière première de l’information.
