Abstract
Het Wetsvoorstel straffen en beschermen en het Wetsvoorstel uitbreiding slachtofferrechten wijzigen respectievelijk de voorwaardelijke invrijheidstelling en de voorwaardelijke beëindiging van de dwangverpleging. De wetgever beoogt hiermee de positie van het slachtoffer te versterken bij het vrijkomen van de veroordeelde. In deze bijdrage worden beide wetsvoorstellen vergeleken met de corresponderende regelingen van Canada, België en Duitsland. Beargumenteerd wordt dat het belangrijk is om slachtoffers een stem te geven aan de achterkant van de executiefase. Tegelijkertijd kunnen er kanttekeningen worden geplaatst bij de wijze waarop de Nederlandse wetgever dit wil vormgeven.
