Abstract
À contre-courant d’une histoire du rock qui met en avant les principaux schèmes du Star-System et ses « grandes figures », l’article porte sur l’histoire du rock à l’échelle locale, à partir d’un terrain plus « ordinaire» et provincial, la ville d’Avignon. Il est centré sur l’analyse de la presse locale, et en particulier Le Dauphiné libéré , et sur la façon dont le discours médiatique met en scène les premières représentations d’une culture rock émergente. L’auteur montre quelle place y occupait cette musique de 1954 à 1964 et analyse la jonction qui s’opère entre nouveaux dispositifs sonores, telle l’électro-amplification, et nouvelles dispositions sociales.
