Abstract
Aujourd’hui, il serait problématique d’imaginer que le « grand roman de l’Amérique » puisse ne pas inclure des personnages et des thèmes autochtones. Cependant, la représentation d’Autochtones par des auteurs allochtones s’avère une entreprise tout aussi problématique. Comment s’y prendre en évitant les images fausses, réductrices, soit d’une manière respectueuse et bien informée ? Dans cet article, Pamela Sing propose des éléments de réponse à cette question en examinant le rôle joué par le personnage de la Métisse dans Volkswagen Blues et dans L’homme de la Saskatchewan de Jacques Poulin.
