Partant des scénarios de l’école de demain définis par l’OCDE en 2001, cet article fait le point sur la situation actuelle de l’éducation en général, avant d’analyser des évolutions possibles dans trois dimensions de l’institution scolaire : la mission de l’école (et son curriculum), la gouvernance et la pédagogie. Celles-ci sont marquées par le passage d’un cadre de politiques publiques typique de l’État-providence à un autre cadre propre à une « marchandisation » et à une individualisation de la vie sociale. Face à un avenir incertain, parions sur une école qui, à l’ère de post-vérité, affirme sa mission cognitive et sociale, manifeste sa capacité historique d’adaptation et prend le risque d’une gestion plus décentralisée.
