Abstract
Cette contribution attire l’attention sur les effets ecclésiologiques problématiques de la notion de « décentralisation », comme de « subsidiarité » d’ailleurs, appliquée à l’Église. Dans une ecclésiologie de communion des Églises locales, soeurs égales en ecclésialité, on ne saurait partir d’un centre qui accorderait des droits ou des concessions à d’autres Églises, « décentraliser » en ce sens, mais on part bien plutôt des Églises locales, chacune pleinement Église du Christ en un lieu, Églises-sujets dotées de tout ce dont elles ont besoin pour annoncer l’Évangile et célébrer l’eucharistie, car c’est en elles et à partir d’elles qu’existe l’une et unique Église catholique. La communion ecclésiale (avec ses expressions synodales et collégiales) se vit ainsi au plan local, régional, continental (de proche en proche), avant de se vivre au plan universel, où devrait s’exercer collégialement (synodalement) le ministère spécifique de communion de l’Église locale de Rome, et donc de son évêque.
