Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The Canadian artist Jeff Wall is considered a master of staging reality. His photographs show banal scenes against miscellaneous backgrounds but linked by an equally strange impression. Images of familiar reality thus seem abnormal, even artificial, with good reason as his photos are the result of a carefully thought-out construction. Since the late 1970s, Jeff Wall has been elaborating a photographic production full of references to the history of art through a painter’s view of modern life. Over the last few years, he has developed his reflection further with the principle of the “almost documentary” that defines his work today and also testifies of the distance he maintains from the documentary genre and its integration into the idea of reality he has developed, that is, a reconstruction based on strict observation, much like documentary reconstitution.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
