Les Lettres et les Sciences humaines et sociales ont une dimension critique et émancipatrice qui constitue un phénomène culturel majeur partout sur la planète. Cette tradition du savoir est cependant fragile, et menacée par trois types de phénomènes : d’une part, par des attaques anti-intellectualistes ; d’autre part, par des régimes autoritaires et des dictatures ; enfin par des transformations structurelles induites par l’utilitarisme, le management et le marché. Nous appelons à constituer un collectif international pour envisager leur patrimonialisation dans le cadre de conventions internationales.
