Abstract
La réception du Concile en Amérique latine a donné lieu à une décentralisation salutaire d’une grande créativité. L’expérience de la collégialité vécue par une partie importante des évêques latino-américains au Concile a donné ses fruits sur le Continent : la naissance d’une nouvelle conscience d’Église, une identité et un visage propres dont les traits marquants sont l’option pour les pauvres, le dynamisme des Communautés ecclésiales de base et la théologie de la libération. Cet élan de l’Église des pauvres a été fort ralenti par une politique romaine de recadrage aux antipodes du Concile Vatican II. Mais les racines étaient assez fortes pour lui résister. Le pape François, par son programme de « décentralisation salutaire », redonne vie à la collégialité voulue par Vatican II.
