La francophonie sous le regard critique du « Franco-africain » : Mongo Beti mis en exergue

Abstract
L’auteur franco-camerounais Mongo Beti, dans sa relecture du concept « francophone », fit état d’une naïveté et d’une fragilité africaines à l’époque des indépendances dont l’ex-colonisateur a su prendre avantage. Dans notre article, nous partons de cet a priori et de ses a posteriori pour porter un regard critique actualisé sur le rôle controversé de l’outil de conquête (colonial et néocolonial) qu’était la langue française. Sous la plume de Mongo Beti, certains de ces a posteriori évoquaient dans un schéma dualiste, d’une part, la déculturation née du phénomène de diglossie causé par le français et, d’autre part, les besoins pratiques de l’adoption du français. La quête du parler français raffiné chez certains Africains relève-t-elle du complexe d’infériorité? La francophonie a-t-elle tiré vanité du chaos historique que fut la colonisation? Notre article déconstruit cette dimension enquiquineuse du terme « francophone » en s’appuyant sur une analyse textuelle critique du réel africain chez Beti.
