Cet article ethnocritique étudie, dans Histoire de ma vie, l’autobiographie de George Sand, la construction progressive de l’identité artistique afin de comprendre comment les amorces du processus créateur et scriptural préparent l’entrée dans la carrière littéraire et s’affilient à la phase de marge du rite de passage, notamment au modèle initiatique masculin de la « voie des oiseaux » (Fabre, 1986). On suivra dans ce texte, quelques-uns des jalons de l’appropriation de l’écriture en nous interrogeant sur le volet anthropologique de cette initiation scripturaire, à savoir en y repérant les biographèmes culturellement réglés qui, dans la société française du xixe siècle, construisent l’identité sexuée et créatrice dans une productive tension entre des logiques de l’oralité et celles de l’écriture.
