Abstract
Victoria Welby a concu une approche speciale a la theorie du sens qu’elle appelle significs. Le concept central de son oeuvre, qu’elle appelle le « sens maternel », et qu’elle associe avec la “logique du don,” avec la capacite humaine pour l’alterite et la creativite, est le sujet de discussion dans sa correspondance avec le philosophe anglais Ferdinand C.S. Schiller et le pragmatiste americain Charles Sanders Peirce, entre autres. L’auteure ajoute que, au-dela de la contribution de Welby qui questionne les ordres linguistiques, semiotiques, pratico-ethiques et pedagogiques, les implications de sa theorie du sens sont particulierement interessantes pour la « question-femme » et le discours feminin en general.
