Abstract
Cet article explore la contribution de Paul-Aimé Martin (1917-2001) à la bibliothéconomie québécoise. Surtout connu comme le fondateur des éditions Fides, il joua un rôle majeur dans le développement des bibliothèques au Québec, participant en effet directement à la fondation de deux institutions importantes : l’École de bibliothécaires de l’Université de Montréal et l’Association canadienne des bibliothécaires de langue française, qui deviendra plus tard l’ASTED. Il mit enfin sur pied chez Fides un Service d’aide aux bibliothèques qui pendant plusieurs années contribua au développement des bibliothèques québécoises et il fut le promoteur du premier projet de catalogage coopératif au Québec en lançant un service de fiches de catalogue.
