Le 8e colloque international de l’AFAV, tenu à Besançon en décembre 2016, a regroupé un grand nombre de spécialistes du verre médiéval. Présentées dans ces actes, les communications renouvellent, grâce à une approche interdisciplinaire, les études menées sur un matériau qui a intéressé les archéologues, les historiens, les archéomètres, les verriers et les restaurateurs-conservateurs. Elles proposent une synthèse de nos connaissances sur le verre des viiie-xvie siècles au Portugal, en Italie, Slovénie et dans les Balkans, et plus ponctuellement dans des régions suisses, allemandes et françaises, sans omettre les échanges avec le Nouveau Monde (Canada) pour la fin de la période considérée.
