Abstract
L’article propose de reconstruire les échanges méconnus sur le cinéma entre Siegfried Kracauer et Walter Benjamin dans les années 1920 et 1930. C’est à partir de la discussion autour du cinéma soviétique, et de Dziga Vertov en particulier, Vertov qu’ils posent tous deux la question d’une possible résistance aux formes de propagande en faisant appel à la puissance documentaire propre au film et aux techniques de plans fixes ou d’arrêt sur image.
