Abstract

Bu çalışma İngiltere´nin kolonilerinden birisi olan Doğu Afrika ülkesi Tanzanya´ya çalıştırılmak amacı ile getirilmiş Güney Asya kökenli Hintlilerin yaşamlarını ele almaktadır. Sözleşmeli işçi olan Hintlilerin bu ülkedeki gelişimlerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma ile Hintlilerin yıllar içinde Tanzanya´da ekonomik olarak önemli başarılar elde ettikleri tespit edilmiştir. Hintlilerin başarısında en önemli rolün İngiliz yetkililerin desteği olduğu belirlenmiştir. Hintlilerin ülkedeki ekonomik başarılarının bu ülkenin gerçek sahibi olan Afrikalılar tarafından hoşgörü ile karşılanmadığı ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Afrikalıların nefretini kazanan Hintlilerin ülkede ayrımcılığa tabi tutuldukları ve sahip oldukları varlıklara el konulduğuna dikkat çekilmiştir.
