The COVID-19 pandemic has deeply affected societies worldwide, demanding communities to rapidly respond to the health and socioeconomic impacts of the disease. The emergence of zoonoses such as SARS, Ebola virus disease, and COVID-19 showcases the deep interconnections between human activities and the natural environment. Anthropogenic activities diminish the natural habitats of animals, leading to enhanced proximity of humans and animals, which increases the likelihood of novel viral transmission from animals to humans.
