Abstract
La présence d’un rythme commun, utilisé dans plusieurs genres musicaux de différentes îles du Sud-Ouest de l’océan Indien, est au cœur de représentations, de discours et d’analyses menés à travers le prisme des notions d’origine, de trace ou d’atavisme. Notre hypothèse est que ce rythme commun, qui a certes traversé le temps long, ne peut être appréhendé comme trace d’une histoire linéaire ou d’une origine première. Nous proposons plutôt de comprendre ce temps long comme une succession de moments clés, de différents contextes historiques et de « branchements » qui, à partir de ce rythme commun, ont nourri des redéfinissions esthétiques et identitaires de l’autre et du même, dans des jeux de miroirs et d’interrelations.
