Abstract
Comment on en vient à appeler la police ? L’article considère ce recours comme une option dans l’éventail des modes de régulation possibles, qui sont tous placés sur un pied d’égalité, du plus formel au plus informel. Nous explorons les raisons ordinaires qui animent un tel choix selon une perspective ethnométhodologique. L’analyse des entretiens montre deux éléments liés qui régissent la décision d’appeler ou non la police : le sentiment d’agentivité, soit la sensation d’être en contrôle satisfaisant de ses actions et du monde extérieur, et sa condition pour s’actualiser, l’appréciation que l’on se situe dans un monde commun avec le protagoniste.
